Taking a growing business to the next level, using the Golden Circle

Gateway Chassis Solutions Ltd is the UK leading manufacturer
of Holiday Home, Park Home & Lodge chassis. Also supplying into bespoke Garden room, pod and Modular sectors. With the next stage of growth centred around bespoke fabrication. The family-owned business is passionate about technical expertise, exceptional customer service and delivering on time, every time.

We’re seeing fantastic results, so thought we’d share how we’ve Partnered to move their people forward.

Objectives

The Senior Management Team, led by MD Chris Ramsden, wanted to create a cohesive, high-performing leadership team. They wanted a team of leaders who are:

  • Highly engaged and motivated to take the business to the next level

  • Communicating effectively, with a team-based approach

  • Aligned, confident and capable of leading significant improvements in performance

Kelly had worked with Gateway’s Head of Operations, in a previous company, with successful results, and Dean was keen to bring Start Inspiring on their growth journey.

After learning about the business and doing an initial Employee Engagement Survey, Kelly spent a couple days working with the SMT on their ‘why’. This involved getting crystal clear on the vision, strategy and purpose.

Next came a deep dive into the culture of Gateway, underpinned by their values.

Chris had coaching sessions to support him with the fast-changing and evolving needs of the business.

At this stage, strategic thinking was fundamental to create the critical milestones needed for growth.

Leadership & Management Programmes

The SMT continued to work with Kelly through a Leadership Development Programme, with ‘accountability pods’ in between face to face sessions. This kept the Golden Circle alive and meant the team had the time and space to reflect, review milestones and hold each other accountable.

Managers & Team Leaders were invited to take part in a Management Development Programme. This started with a 360 report, helping them understand themselves better, along with vital feedback from colleagues. The programme has been designed for Gateway’s Managers and Team Leaders, ensuring they leave believing in themselves, with practical tools in their leadership toolkit that can be applied in the factory.

Outcomes

The SMT have used the Golden Circle’s Why, How and What, to give this growing business a renewed sense of purpose and clear direction.

Changes in the Team Leaders have included:

  • Increased levels of self-awareness, understanding their own personality preferences and communication styles better

  • Improved team working within their own individual functions, and across the whole factory

  • Confidently using tools provided to improve their management skills, such as giving feedback, holding people accountable and effectively planning and prioritising
