Siemens Gamesa is the leader in renewable energy solutions, manufacturing world-class wind turbine blades in Hull.

We’ve been partnering for just over a year now, so thought it was a great time to share the story so far.

Objectives

Andy Sykes, Plant Director, chose to work with us as we’re on the same page when it comes to understanding people and profit go hand in hand.

The plant was about to embark on significant expansion, meaning more demands and challenges were on the way. Andy was looking for support to create high-performing management and leadership teams, ready for the expansion and upcoming changes.

Not only have we supported during planned sessions, the added value outside of these has been fundamental to the success of the business. Being able to genuinely partner and be on hand to help the leaders when they need it has been game-changing.

We asked the leaders who’ve completed the programme to rate their confidence, and were so pleased to hear 93% feel confident or very confident with the topics covered.

This increased confidence has been evidenced through the growth in leadership capability in the factory. We know that leaders enjoyed the opportunity to learn new skills, have time to reflect on their own performance and take away practical tools to support them in leading their teams.

Changes have included:

Prioritising, empowering, delegating more effectively, meaning less time and energy is being wasted
More time being spent building effective working relationships, leading to improved communication as they’re able to adapt their style to best suit the audience
Coaching for solutions, rather than giving answers

Not only are changes being seen throughout the factory, Andy has also been recognised by winning ‘Business Person of the Year’ at the Hull Live Business Awards at the end of 2023, which is a very worthy and deserving accolade!
